Kurt Van Veldhuizen, DC MS CSCS

Dr. Kurt van veldhuizen studied biology (pre-medical major) and religion/philosophy as a minor, he graduated from the university of northern iowa in the winter of 2005 with a b.a. in science.
After completion of his undergraduate degree he enrolled in the doctorate of chiropractic program at palmer college of chiropractic, davenport, iowa. At palmer he studied the medical sciences, the chiropractic arts, and specialized as an intern in the palmer rehabilitation clinic in addition to serving in the palmer health clinic as an intern and assistant to the clinics director of operations and finance. Dr. Kurt graduated from palmer with honors in june of 2009.
Dr. Kurt’s post graduate work has included, becoming a certified mechanical diagnosis and therapy provider for the mckenzie international institute(cert. Mdt) practitioner and a certified member of both the graston technique of instrument assisted soft tissue release and the active release technique(art), both of which are considered to be gold standard techniques for muscle manipulation and myofascial release. In addition dr. Van veldhuizen has become a board certified chiropractic sports physician(ccsp) and is currently studying to attain his certified strength and conditioning specialist(cscs), as well as, has achieved his russian kettlebell certification, strong first certification, selective functional movement assessment certification, titleist performance institute certification, certified kettlebell functional movement screen certification(ck-fms) and is certified as a DNS (dynamic neuromuscular stabilization) sports therapist.
Later in the year he will graduate with masters degree in sports medicine and rehabilitation with an emphasis on clinical nutrition and human performance. Work with pediatrics and neurology has included multiple course work though the prague school of rehabilitation for dynamic neuromuscular stabilization and training under one of america’s only trained and certified vojta therapists in reflex locomotion. Dr. Van veldhuizen has also studied with dr. Dale buchberger on his shoulder made simple protocols utilizing the renowned buchberger 12 series of exercises and diagnosis. Lastly dr. Van veldhuizen has been certified by the dry needling instiute of american to practice dry needling. In the coming months he will also be attaining his accupuncture certification.
In his free time doctor kurt is involved in the chamber of commerce, athletic mentoring, and johnstons jump mentoring program. He trains and coaches in primal johnston crossfit. He enjoys spending time hunting, fishing, kayaking, hiking, and camping.
